Phenomena I: Sound Installations. First he recorded frog choirs to study the communication of the animals, and then “to electronically-synthesize the conditions of acoustic communication of frogs”. Since then, Felix Hess has been constructing small “frog apparatuses” that are about the size of a music cassette and react electro-acoustically to each other. The artist is interested in using physical-technical means to investigate the system of mutual calling in frog song, the “balance between order, chaos and coincidence”.
