Drawings. On the occasion of the extensive exhibition with drawings a concert will take place. Born in Vienna in 1930, Rühm was initially mainly active in the literary field, including co-founding the “Wiener Gruppe”. Since 1956, however, he has also produced drawings, which are now being shown for the first time in a major retrospective. He was interested in “the problem of expression and mediation in general, the expansion of material and consciousness”. The names of individual groups of works, into which the exhibition was divided, e.g. “visual music” or “script drawings”, mark attempts to cross the boundaries between disciplines in order to explore expression.
