Jasmin Werner’s series Send Money Fast (Facade Proposals) brings together two worlds that rarely intersect in everyday life: the large, glamorous institutions of art and history, and the small, often overlooked remittance shops where people send money to their countries of origin. By integrating hand-painted roller blinds advertising money transfer services, such as MoneyGram, into the windows of existing museum facades from Cape Town to Bremen, Werner merges the colonial past, global financial flows, and the diasporic present into one image.
Send Money Fast (Facade Proposals) was on view in the poster frame outside the GAK as part of Werner’s exhibition The Structure of Claim in 2025. Each of the three works offered as annual gifts to the GAK consists of two architectural drawings showing the museum facade and window details with cutout areas revealing paintings beneath. The overlapping in the image reveals how closely power, property, and memory are intertwined with economic structures—she invites viewers to read the facades of cultural institutions as mirrors of social realities.
Werner works at the intersection of architecture, history, and global movements. In her sculptures, installations, and images, she explores how power and memory are inscribed in architectural structures and how these traces continue to inform the present.
Jasmin Werner (*1987, lives in Berlin) studied at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main, Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam, and the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design. Her work has been shown internationally, including at Westfälischer Kunstverein, Münster; Kunstverein Braunschweig; Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin; and the Asian Art Biennial in Taichung, Taiwan. In 2024, she received the Berlin Senate’s Visual Arts Work Grant.
