The exhibition “ah, soul in coma, act naive, attack” of the Romanian-Czech artist duo Chisa & Tkacova in the GAK raises many questions: Can art make a contribution to changing society in a meaningful way? Can it be a tool for social resistance? If so, in what way can it do so? What may become artistic material? And what should be considered? What role do parrots play in the exhibition? And what does the fact that they are missing mean? Is art allowed to break taboos? Or does it even have to? …
First we will discuss these and a few more points in a walk through the exhibition, before we look at other works from the oeuvre of Chisa & Tkacova, question the meaning of an exhibition title and weigh up the pros and cons of working as a duo.
