I Want to Have the Full Experience is an interactive performance about curiosity, devotion, and longing to know the truth. Using computer programs and a Playtronica controller, the artist turns each piece of clay into a musical instrument. Every touch on the clay triggers a sound, but before it’s triggered, the exact pitch is unknown. It reflects the procedure of exploring the world, you can estimate, but never predict what will happen next. The clay as a material shows tremendous flexibility which transcends the normality, contrasting with its childish stereotype.
Dong Zhou is a composer-performer based in Hamburg. Zhou gained the BA in music engineering in Shanghai Conservatory and MA in multimedia composition in Hamburg University of Music and Drama. Zhou won several prizes including the first prize of 2018 ICMC Hacker-N-Makerthon and the finalist of 2019 Deutscher Musikwettbewerb and Nota-n-ear Award 2022. Zhou’s work was included in ‘Sound of World’ Microsoft ringtones collection and Zhou was commissioned by festivals and institutions including Shanghai International Art Festival, ZKM Karlsruhe, Stimme X Festival, etc. Zhou is currently a doctoral candidate in ICAM of Leuphana University, member of Stimme X e. V. Zeitgenössisches Musiktheater Norddeutschland and Deutscher Komponistenverband Hamburg.
Radio Angrezi is an experimental ground for sound, music, voice and live performance. It broadcasts weekly from its studio at Speicher XI (Bremen) on radioangrezi.de, as well as occasionally on 92,5 FM, receivable in the Bremen and the surrounding area. In addition, special broadcasts covering concerts, lectures and presentations among others are produced regularly.
With the Kopfzimmer format, Radio Angrezi aims to create a platform and exchange for experimental music and sound art in Bremen. To this end, artists from Bremen and beyond are regularly invited for a live performance and an artist talk. The program takes place at changing locations and can be followed by the audience both live on site and via online broadcast at home.
