In her paintings Sibylle Springer takes up works from art history and reinterprets them, often her pictures originate from the baroque era. This was also the heyday of a musical format in which a new piece was created from existing works – the pasticcio. This principle can be found in current popular music in the form of remix, mashup or sampling. As part of her exhibition “gift” in the GAK, Sibylle Springer now presents music titles in which classics of baroque music are quoted or old and new pieces are mixed. The idea of mixing is continued at the bar: Irene Strese (Artist, Bremen) will prepare a selection of cocktails that, in the context of the exhibition “gift”, are based on classics like Bloody Mary and Sex on the Beach.
