MIND THE MYCELIUM is an extensive program in and around Bremen, celebrating the Bremen Women Artists’ Association’s 40th anniversary. Until 31.10. Petra Fiebig will be visiting artists participating in the festival in their respective venues or production sites to talk with them about questions and thoughts on being a female artist. Notes taken during the conversations, Polaroid photographs as well as the recordings of Fiebigs walks to and from the meeting points will continuously be assembled within Fiebigs installation in the foyer of the GAK forming a growing texture of relationships, networks and knowledge. Fiebig transfers her digitally recorded walking routes into hand drawings on transparent paper, her conversation notes are being transferred into an equally transparent book.
In Gehen, Sammeln, Aufzeichnen (Walking, Collecting, Recording) Fiebig focusses on the profession of the female artist and the network. She takes the festival as occasion to in fact continue topics she has been long concerned with in her practice; be it the studio and the notes of Agnes Martin, the true to scale reproduction of her own furnishings in a hybrid between drawing and sculpture, or more broadly the approximation of both inside and outside spaces by means of drawing.
Towards the end of the project, when Gehen, Sammeln, Aufzeichnen has found its temporary final form, Petra Fiebig and Annette Hans will tackle the installation and these topics in an artist talk.
