The works of Doris Weinberger move in the field of tension between staged realism and documentary fiction. They always contain, synonymously, the framework context in which a particular work takes place (history, occasion and space), the event itself and the preparation and follow-up (research, documentation, publication).
In autumn 2013 Doris Weinberger invited guests from Germany and abroad, from the visual arts, literature, theatre, dance, music, social science, economics, journalism and art appreciation to a direct and staged experience at Schaulust Bremen. There was a meeting and celebration on the question: The artist – a clown for breaks? | The Artist – A Class Clown? Traditional customs of the ancient Greek sympósion and contemporary rituals determined the rules of the game. For one day, stage events, artists and audience together formed a space between lecture and parlour game, discussion and joke. The meetings were recorded for the preparation of a subsequent edition, which Weinberger will now present in the GAK.
An event to the exhibition “Ib Geertsen”.
