At the centre of this award-winning documentary film are seven Palestinian and Israeli children aged between eight and 13 years, who describe their everyday lives and their perspectives on the Middle East conflict. As close as the children are geographically, they are worlds apart – mutual prejudices seem to be cemented. In the course of the film, however, they meet, get to know each other and gain new insights and perspectives. “Through candid interviews, the film explores a legacy of distrust and bitterness, but signs of hope emerge when some of the children dare to cross the checkpoints to meet one another.” (http://www.pbs.org/pov/promises/).
