Banu Çiçek Tülü
Awaz

26.10, 09:00 am

“Awaz” is a word of the Kurdish language Kurmanji, translated it means sound. For the durational sonic activation Awaz Banu Çiçek Tülü will play an electronic live set instead of the room sound installation that can normally be heard during the exhibition.

Banu Çiçek Tülü uses sound as both a medium and a method to make things perceptible that often elude our ears. Her work is based on the belief that listening is a bodily act, that vibrations of sound move through our bodies in which we carry sounds, emotions and knowledge. In her exhibition Aural Flesh she picks up on the relationship between sounds and memories as well as the significance of hearing in relation to our orientation and questions their bodily implications. How do inside and outside interact in different rhythms through sound?

While the sounds inscribed in the installation are closely linked to Tülü’s memories, during the activation the exhibition space will open up for further experiences and sounds to be shared and experienced during the event. The live set will interact with the movements in the room allowing sounds and bodies to react to each other. There will be the opportunity for sounds and silence, movement and downtime.
