Language in Artist Films of the 1970s

12.07, 07:00 pm

The group exhibition “Beyond Words” is dedicated to the interrelation between language and visual appearance in contemporary art. The exhibition brings together current artistic positions that formulate the mutual penetration of a linguistic and visual level in the media of sculpture, installation, film, publication and performance in different ways.

This latest artistic production will be juxtaposed with three important positions from the 1970s during the film evening. The artists and simultaneous protagonists of these films show the special way in which language was handled in art and especially in the artists’ film of the 1970s. During this period, the weighting of the relationship between language and image was redefined and narration was increasingly conveyed through the medium of language.
