Fischli/Weiss
Film night

10.06, 07:00 pm

In Der geringste Widerstand (engl.: The Least Resistance) a bear and a rat want to make a lot of money – and art seems to them to be the appropriate way. On an information trip they find a dead man in a gallery, whom they take with them in the hope of finding access to the world of culture, action and finance through him. Instead, however, they get into arguments about questions and considerations on the subject of “art and crime”. The rat tries to solve the case itself; for it there is no separation between artist and detective. After a barely surviving murder attempt, the two get together again, disillusioned. But in deepest discouragement they discover an order in the chaos of the world and from there they take off to unexpected insights and new heights.

In the film Der rechte Weg (engl.: The Right Way,) rat and bear set off on a journey through free, untouched nature, quite at the mercy of the elements, all kinds of miracles and above all themselves. With a pure heart and lots of good will they try to fathom the phenomena and events. Thus they sometimes involuntarily do not move far from the right path.

The two films by Fischli/Weiss are shown on the occasion of the current exhibition. Both films deal with the search for meaning and failure, from which productive insights into the world and life arise.

Since 1979 Peter Fischli and David Weiss have been working together as the artist duo Fischli/Weiss. In their works they try to uncover the unconscious in human actions in an often humorous and ironic way. Their work includes films, photographs, installations, sculptures and artist books. They are among the most influential and well-known artists of the present day.
